The actor Paulo Gustavo (1978 – 2021) will be honored in the exhibition “RIR, an act of resistance”one from March 29 Mac Niterói (Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói), City of Rio de Janeiro.
A show will bring together art pieces from its weight collection, iconic costumes and photographs to remember striking moments of the artist’s life and career, as well as displaying a short film. The project was developed with the support of the family and led by the honoree’s husband, Thales Bretas.
Paulo Gustavo had a call with a city of Niterói, where he conducted several works. After the death of the humorist, one of the streets of the Icaraí neighborhood lit his name, as well as a statue to be built in Campo de São Bento Park – becoming a tourist point.

As the Homenagenas will be divided into five galleries and the curator of Nicolas Martin Ferreira and co-cursor of Juliana Cintra.
Name of the exhibition makes reference to one of the last statements Paulo Gustavo made on television, when he said: “I do clowning, you laugh, I get my heart full here. I feel fulfilled to be able to make you happy. Laughing is an act of resistance ”
The actor died in 2021 at the age of 42, a victim of Covid-19, leaving the two threads, Romeo and Gael, and the husband, doctor Thales Bretas, with which he married in December 2015.
