Megalodone can be an amazing 80 feet in length – and weighing 94 tons.
The surprising size of the prehistoric murder machine came out in a study that shows how the sea hunter really looked.
It is often believed that Megalodone would have looked like a great white shark, but big.
But Vijay .NoCo now believes that the enormous animal was “close to the shape of a lemon shark or even a large whale”.
The common way to guess on the size of the megalodone is to have tooth measurements – and there are some guessing.
But Depoul University and University of California Riverside .NoCo says they have made more accurate guess by investigating Megaloden’s Vertabral C Column Lam.
To make a better estimate, they compared this with more than 100 species of sharks (both live and extinct).
And they believe it can be grown up to 24.3 meters in length – it is about 80 feet.
“Length of 24.3 meters is currently the largest possible reason for O. Megalodone that can be justified on the basis of viz and wan and current Relic The record, “said Kenshu Shamada of Depal University.
Megalodone lived (almost) from 15 million to 3.6 million years ago (almost).
But there is no known complete skeleton, which makes it difficult to get the perfect picture of its size.
It looks like a great white shark in the past-and it is shown in a magn flick that way.
However, the almost full residue of Belgium was used to better guess how it would look at the Column Lum, which is almost foot 36 feet long.
This gives Mano the ability to work his proportion.
They claim that his body was 16.6%, while the tail was 32.6% of the overall length.
And based on that proportion, they think that megalodone looked like a more modern lemon shark.
That means it would have a more thin body that modern great whites.
“This study provides the body’s body size and shape yet the strongest analysis,” said UCR’s Philip Sternace.
“Instead of meeting like a large white shark, it was really like a fierce lemon shark, with a more thin, elaborate body.
“That shape is very meaningful to move effectively through water.”
Megalodone – facts
Here’s what you need to know …
Megalodone is the largest predator ever.
The animal is believed to have died nearly 6.6 million years ago.
But it dominates the oceans during life, and could reach a length of up to 80 feet.
Its jaws will be able to use up to £ 40,960 force.
Megalodone hunting would also include seals, sea turtles and whales.
Vijay Entrists Annico believes that megalodone will use its jaws to puncture its main organs from the chest of its prey.
Great whites have stocki bodies – and they get as large as they get.
They are described as “torpedo -shaped”, allowing them to move with fast motion.
But they are not able to be wider, and do not grow more than 23 feet due to “hydrodynamic barrier”.
Lemon sharks are thin and have less pronounced tapers.
And Vijay .NoCo says that this long cylindrical build allows easier and more energy-efficient swimming.
They believe that Megalodone would look like this, instead of a large amount we saw in the movies.
“How can the physics of the swimming limit be pulled to the physics, stocki or larger predators,” said Tim Higam of the UCR’s life -giving Ologist.
“When you are swim, you lead with your head because it is more efficient than moving with your stomach.
“Similarly, evolution moves toward efficiency, most of the time.”
This more efficient shape of the body would allow megalodone to grow in such a large size – and still bloom.
The enemy entists compared it with Olympic swimmers and aircraft, which depends on reducing the cramps for both smooth and smooth movement.
“Gigantism is not just going to grow up – it’s about developing the right body to survive,” said Sternace.
“And Megalodone could be one of its most extreme examples.”
The newborn megalodone would also be about 13 feet long.
It’s about the size of the great white shark in adults.
“It is absolutely possible that Megaloden chicks were taking the marine mammals down shortly after birth,” Sternace added.
