A 16 -year -old boy was shot in South London on Tuesday and named Lathniel Burel.
The teenager was killed on Paradise Road near Stockwell Tube station.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee said: “This is a horrible crime, which has shocked the shock to the local community and beyond it. Our thoughts are with Lathniel’s family and friends at this time of this devastating time.”
Metropolitan police are seeking the help of people responsible.
Police were called at 3.21 pm, and Lathaniel died while undergoing treatment at the scene.
His family is currently being supported by expert officials.
DCI Lee said Detective is now investigating CCTV footage and collecting witness statements – officials are deployed on “consolation patrol” and associated with local schools.
He added, “We also need the help of people – if you were in the local area please think back to the back yesterday afternoon and come forward with any information, no matter how small it is.”
No arrests have been made and detectives are open -minded about the potential purpose of the attack.
One person who said he was Lathniel’s uncle, who had asked not to name, claimed that the assailants raised as delivery drivers, and were riding a moped.
Meanwhile, a neighbor has described the teenager as “very bright at school”.
A nearby young woman added: “This area is not safe at night. There are many teenage boys that cause a lot of trouble living here.
“They hang around at night, playing around with cops. Things like playing with fireworks and running from the police.”
The murder is the first fatal shooting in London so far this year.
Out of the total 105 killings registered by the Metropolitan Police in 2024, 13 fatal fires were fired.
