Brian James, a founding member of the Damded, has died at the age of 70.
The guitarist, who was part of the group’s original line-up, wrote to the UK’s first punk single New Rose and helped the band to make their first album, the 1977 Damed DMND.
A spokesman for the record label said: “I can confirm that Brian died peacefully with his family yesterday.”
James’ colleague Raymond “Captain Sensible” Burns, Burns, said in an Instagram post: “Refmistor, Brian has gone – the final act that happens to all of us, because most of the sad SAD is a dazzling and pathetic relationship, when it is really terrifying, I love to celebrate life.”
He added: “And looking back, I have to say what a perfect soft brian was … sometimes even though you have tolerated some very horrible behavior, he never really lost with me – and whenever we met for the next decades, we would have a drink and bloody good laughter.”
A statement on James’ Facebook page states that he is “one of the true leaders of music, guitarist, songwriter and true gentleman and a composer who was a” constant creative and musical tour de force “in his long career.
It says: “With his wife Minna, son Charlie and son -in -law Ellisia, Brian passed quietly on March 6, 2025.”
The blasphemous people supported the sex pistol on their chaos of the UK and proceeded to play with T -racks on Mark Bolan’s final tour before they died.
James left the band after introducing its second album, music for Pleasure, and was part of the short -term Tanz fear Youth before forming the new church’s Lords with American singer Steve B Tors Tors and Drummer Nick Turner.

In 2020, he and Dammed Singer Dave Venian, Drummer Christopher “Mice Scabies” Miller and Burns announced that the band would improve more than four decades after starting in 1976.
James performed with the group in 2022.
Burns said: “When the BJ, mice, DV and myself returned together, the Dammed Originals show that they were magical all the way … that we were a course again, but we managed to redeem our ’76 garage punk voice in rehearsals.
“We were all ready to do it again … but unfortunately it would never happen anymore.”
