Vashington Shington, DC:
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that his administration was demanding a permanent income tax reduction for all Americans, hitting the inflation. He also repeated his promise of overtime salary, tips and tax on social security.
“I do no taxes on tips, no taxes on overtime and calling to ask for no tax on social security benefits for our great seniors,” he told Congress during his joint address.
Requesting the Democrats to vote by those proposed changes, the President said, “I am sure you are going to vote for that tax reduction … because I do not think people will ever vote in the Office Fiss.”
“But I know that this group will vote for a tax reduction,” he added that the Republicans pointed to loud enthusiasm from the group.
Donald Trump is seeking Congress approval for a big bill, which extends the tax break, which he secured during the first term in the White House. Steps are expiring later this year.
During his presidential campaign, Trump promised to support the law to remove the tax on overtime pay, saying that he “encouraged people for work.”
“It gives a lot to the companies, it is very easy to get people,” he said at a campaign rally in Arizona Tucson in September last year.
The plan to exclude workers’ tips from federal tax was unveiled by Trump in June 2024. At that time, he said he had received the idea of a waitress at his Las Vegas Hotel.
Trump said, “He will be very happy with hotel workers and people who get tips, because when I go to the Office Fiss, we do not charge tax on the tips, people make tips … we will go to do it right away, the first thing in the office.”
So far, further details of the scheme have not been officially announced, including whether the tips will only be exempted from income tax.
