Peshawar:
Police said Saturday that a Pakistani man has been charged with murder after shooting the administrator of the WhatsApp group of the community, who removed him from the chat, police said on Saturday.
On Thursday evening, Mushtaq Ahmed was shot dead in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwani, a province of Afghanistan, which is a history of bloody communal violence.
According to police documents seen by an AFP and a local police officer, only a man named Ashfaq has been accused of murder.
A statement made by Mushtaq’s brother seen by the AFP said that Mushtaq allegedly released from the WhatsApp group following the argument.
He said that the two parties had arranged to meet and reconcile but alleged that Ashfek had taken a gun and killed his brother.
“Ashfaq was angry in response to the removal of the WhatsApp group,” his statement said.
The availability of fire weapons, influence of tribal customs and sometimes poor law enforcement contributes to the frequency of such events.
