The skipper Mag Lanning was effective at 92 as the Gujarat Giants on Friday registered a hat-trick of winning in the Eliminator of the Women’s Premier League in Lucknow and defeated the capital of Delhi by five wickets. Already up to the playoffs, the Delhi Capital Lanning rode on 57-ball 92, with 15 boundaries and six to the Ile lines for five. But the total was not enough because Gujarat argued on Harlin Deol’s unbeaten 70 and Beth Mooni’s 35-ball 44 in 49 balls.
At the end, skipper Ashleg Gardner (13 to 22) and Dendra Dotin (10 to 24) helped Gujarat Giants to advance the target in the 20th over.
The Gujarat franchise lost opener Dayalan Himalatha in the second over, wicketkeeper Mooni (44) caught the lane on the extra cover of Shikha Pandey’s bowling before and Deol joined hands with 84 runs for the second wicket.
Mooni and Deol went about their business in quiet fashion and scored 15 from the ninth, bold by Annabel Sutharland with three excellent boundaries.
The duo shared 84 runs for the second wicket before breaking the partnership -Fuff -Spinner Minnu Money, fired by Muni.
The gem delivered in the middle and closed, tempted Mooni, which came down from the track and tried to break it over the bowler’s head, only towards Sutharland.
Captain Gardner then contributed 13 to 22 but Deol carried on his bat on the other end and hunted GG.
The match turned to his head in the 18th over when Dotin struck Jesse Jonasen for two fours and six, before the bowler made the West Indian Better and Phoby Lichfield with continuous delivery, the last ball of the second wicket over.
Referring to two overs, Kashvi Gautam made six sneezes of the last ball to bring down the equation in the last ball.
Previously sent to Bat, Lanning and Shafali Verma (40 to 27; 3x4s, 3x6s), sharing 83 runs in just nine overs to give DC explosive start.
Although Shafali was caught on the boundary by Leachfield, as she went for the second maximum of the bowling of Megh Lion, but failed to connect.
Lanning, however, stuck in the work and continued his progress with the objective of the assailant.
Although the DC lost to Jess Jonasen and Jemimah Rodrigo in a fast succession, Lanning kept the fort with his assailant game.
Sutherland (8, 14 of 2×4) gave the Lanning Brief Company, but also died in search of a big hit.
Lanning scored eight runs from a century, bold by Dindra Dotin in the penalty ball of innings.
The line went to a slow, rear length delivery and completely missed the line to see if his stumps knocked.
Meghna (3/35) was the choice of Gujarat bowlers, while Dottyn made two scales by 37 wickets.
