Noxville, Ten. – Mia Woolfock scored 20 points, D’Mouri scored 18 points, and Georgia defeated No. 11 Tennessee 72-69 on Sunday.
Samara Spencer helped Tennessee take a 60-57 lead within the fourth quarter in the fourth quarter, but Lady Walls cooled down and scored the field goals in the next 3/2 minutes.
Despite 2/2 minutes remaining, Woolfock tied it with a jumper and Georgia got a 64-62 lead with the layout of Roxen Makolo on the front possession. After missing in Tennessee paint, Woolfork scored two free throw for a 66-62 lead with 1:09.
Lady Bulldogs sealed the win by making 6 out of 8 free throw in the final minute.
Asia Aquar and Trinity Turner scored 11 points each and Makolo added 10 points to Georgia (12-18, 4-12 seconds).
The gem spear made Spencer 11 (21-8, 8-8) for 20 points, Zee Spearman 19 and Tennessee. Tennessee’s leading scorer, Talesia cooper injured her right ankle at the end of the second quarter and she did not return to the game.
Georgia created a 39-26 half-time lead at 50% shooting strength, 4 out of 6 at 3-pointers. Tennessee was 25% in the first half and 3-point distance from 3-point distance.
Lady Walls tied it in the third quarter with an unusual 13-0 runs in which they scored only two field goals but were 9 wickets on the free-throw line. Georgia led to 48-46 in the fourth quarter.
It was not for five seconds when Kania Boyd hit a 3-point point that Tennessee had scored many grounds (21) for free.
The SEC tournament in Greenville begins on Wednesday, SC Seeding will be finalized later today. ___
