Manchester City made the decision to reject manager Gareth Taylor a few days ago from the Woman League Cup final.
The club announced that they ‘separated’ with the 52-year-old on Monday night.
Nick Cushing will return to the club on an intermediate base for the rest of the season.
The news is a shock with one of the two WSL teams that are competing in the four competitions.
Citizens are fourth on the table, just a point outside the champions League points.
They also progressed to the quarterfinals of Europe while reaching the FA CUP semifinal.

They have a chance to claim their first piece of cutlery on Sunday when they face Chelsea in the Derby County Pride Park Cup final.
Taylor was WSL’s oldest service manager before this announcement, having been appointed in May 2020.
A city statement said: ‘Manchester City women broke up from coach Gareth Taylor.
‘Taylor has a longtime association with Manchester City, having been a former player and assumed several roles at the boys’ gym before joining MCWFC in 2020.
‘He led our female team to the success of the FA Cup and the League Cup in 2020 and 2022, respectively, before losing last season’s WSL title just in the goal difference.
Speaking of Taylor’s departure, Director -Director Charlotte O’Neill said: ‘Manchester City is proud to compete at the top of WSL and in its excellent qualification record for European competition.
Unfortunately, this season’s results have not achieved this high standard so far.
