Paul Scholes ranked a star of Manchester United ‘Criminal’ after his failure to play through Rasmus Hojlund in the Red Devils confrontation with Real Sociedad.
United was trying to press its attempt to qualify for next season’s Champions League, when the Europa League elimination stages began on Thursday while facing the Laliga team in the first leg of their latest confrontation.
Ruben Amorim’s team is among the favorites to win the competition, but should change the season a little if they go to life the trophy at the end of the campaign.
Fighting for goals, the first half against Sociedad was difficult to side with, although they have a chance to open the scoring, perhaps nothing more than when Diogo Dalot met in space to the right.
With the chance to cross, striker Hojlund was approaching the penalty area with speed and had lost the marker. He asked for a cross, but Dalot decided to cut inside when a simple ball in the goal would probably have resulted in a touch.
The chance begged, and Hojlund eventually showed their frustrations with Dalot while the two suffered a brief look of annoyance, and Scholes, speaking as a TNT sports expert, didn’t measure his words.

“It’s been comfortable for United, an easy half of football,” Scholes said at break. ‘They should be ahead, Dalot should have it staged for Hojlund. They have dangerous players, but they were not a threat.
‘What is frustrating is that we have seen them practice. For Dalot not to see him is criminal. He has made a good race, you are back, to any football right in the world so as not to see that it is criminal.
Meanwhile, Karen Carney added: ‘He has the right to get frustrated. When the back of the wings are in positions like Dalot, it has to pass, it is a touch. He does not have and is a missed opportunity and he has every right to dig up Dalot, he had a lot of criticism.
Meanwhile, Robbie Savage called him “unacceptable” in comments.
